Two years ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined the 7107 International Music Festival held in the country.

Back then, it was no secret that members of the band didn't only indulge their Filipino fans with their award-winning brand of funk, but they also got in touch with the local culture.

After the show, frontman-slash-surf bum Anthony Kiedis was spotted riding the waves in Siargao, as seen on the website Surf to Live to Surf.

What we didn't know was that Kiedis' surfing experience here almost made its way into one of RHCP's songs in their latest album, The Getaway.

Watch him spill the beans on the track "The Longest Wave":

The swells at Siargao's beaches must have really made an impression on Kiedis. This also says a lot about how we should safeguard our tourist spots.
