Gilas Pilipinas almost pulled a major upset over Argentina, but we fell short, 81-85, due to a costly turnover.
Still, there's no denying what our boys have accomplished in the last three games. The highlights below are pure gold:
Even if last night's game ended in another disappointing defeat, Gilas continues to show the world what #PUSO is all about. Their performance proves that we can keep in step with the best the world has to offer, and that that impressive outing against Croatia was definitely no fluke.
Our national squad will next face a desperate Puerto Rico—a team that is also still without a win. The game will be broadcast live tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., so better ready your booze and follow our FIBA World Cup Drinking Game!
In the meantime, let's take a closer look at the Argentina game and see the good, the bad, and that #SakitSaPUSO turnover that kept us wide awake last night.
Gilas was off to a hot start, taking a double digit lead thanks to field goals from Andray Blatche and Jason Castro. The team's pesky defense forced Argentina to miss their first five attempts. And then Gabe Norwood invited Luis Scola to a poster party:
Mr. President also unleashed the part deux in the third period!
Gilas also kept their shooting stroke intact for the remainder of the game. We shot an impressive 48.1 percent from three-point territory, five of which came from the red hot Jimmy Alapag!
Gilas also showed that they can be effective even without Blatche on the floor. 'Dray had to sit out almost the entire first half due to foul trouble, but Ranidel De Ocampo singlehandedly picked up where our go-to guy left off with 18 points on 7-out-of-14 shooting.
But the player of the game honors belongs to Alapag. The Gilas captain kept the team in contention with his clutch shooting late in the game. Darius Soriano of Forum Blue and Gold even tweeted this one:

Where to go if you hate people
This is your chance to get high
Admit it, you're both attracted and terrified of these women
Or how to actually be healthy and keep it that way
