February 14 has passed, so first of all...HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAAAAAYYYY!!

Yep, typed that with a forced smile. :D

Pfft.

Honestly, I’m not a Valentine person. Don’t get me wrong, I 'm very much a love person, but it’s just difficult to get love-y and all that with the PBA Philippine Cup Finals already underway! After a heart stopping semis, with one series reaching Game 7, the real war has begun.

But however unmatched the theme of the month is from the whole competitive vibe of the championship series between the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and San Mig Super Coffee Mixers, I've found a way to bridge those clashing feelings.

Although these two teams have distinguishable differences in the way they play, one unquantifiable attribute that they have in common is passion. Their mastery of their game and their determination to succeed has made them consistent title contenders—even facing each other in the 2012 Governor’s Cup finals.

No one personifies both teams' brand of "PUSO" better than Gilas Pilipinas stalwarts Gabe Norwood and Marc Pingris.

However, outside of the court, these intense players are no different as lover boys. Yes, we are going there. I have to succumb a little to this February love tralala.

Both Gabe and Marc agree that their intensity is drawn from their partners: Gabe with Leia, and Marc with Danica. They emphasize the importance of balance, which they say makes them effective in both basketball and their personal lives.

The support that their wives give is unquestionable. It is what they are able to give back to the ladies, in spite of their all-consuming basketball lives that put their values to the test.

NEXT: Gabe: "There's time for everything."
