Mexican legend Juan Manuel 'Dinamita' Marquez might have retired from the world of boxing with less of a bang than his ring nickname suggests, but the memories from his rivalry with Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao seem to be too sweet for him to move on from.
The 43-year-old Marquez announced his retirement over the weekend, where he shared how injuries that plagued his body forced him to finally hang up his gloves.
Still, a celebration was in order, and what better way to do so than with a special commemorative cake?
Naturally, the Dinamita’s cake features his most explosive moment in the ring, which we all know to be knocking Pacquiao out cold with a vicious right straight counter that hit his bitter rival square in the face, making the Filipino boxer billed as the 'Mexicutioner' fall flat on the floor.
And although most Pinoys (being the salty bunch that we are) still like to hate on Marquez for tainting our hometown hero's legacy over four years ago, we can’t deny that he—as a formidable rival—made watching Pacquiao much more exciting.
Check out his hilarious cake and get some good laughs while you're at it:
While the cake pokes fun at Pacquiao's expense, the event it was based on back in December 8, 2012 was no laughing matter. It's actually still painful to watch.
The former two-division world champion closes the book of his storied 20-year career with a 56-7-1 professional record, having 40 victories coming by way of knockout.
Marquez's retirement alongside Pacquiao rival Timothy Bradley, Jr., who also recently announced that he was calling it quits, ushers in the looming and inevitable end to the PacMan's era.
