And now it can be said: Congratulations to the San Mig Coffee Mixers for winning the PBA Governor's Cup 2013 crown!
It was a hard-fought Game 7, a fitting conclusion to a Finals series that needed no less than seven games to determine the winner. In the end, San Mig Coffee was able to make the key baskets and defensive stops to finally put away the Petron Blaze Boosters, 87-77, and win their matchup four games to three.
You Da Man, Barrocs!
It was a finals series that saw several players from both teams rising to the occasion, but none making a bigger impact than Marc Pingris. The Pinoy Sakuragi showed us what #Puso is all about, dominating offensively and defensively on his way to an impressive Game 7 performance of 19 points, 17 rebounds, and five blocks. He was judged as the Finals MVP—the second time in his career—and we say he really deserves it. Way to go, bro!
Sometimes, a facepalm can be used for a positive occasion
This crown is also special in another way as Tim Cone ties the legendary Baby Dalupan as the winningest coach in PBA history with 15 titles. Pa-kape ka naman, coach!
For the Boosters, there's nothing to be ashamed of, bros! You guys showed us you're one scary good team. Kinapos lang ng konti sa huli but, who knows? If a couple more of your baskets dropped, we might be singing a different tune here. That's how close the Finals were.
So, Boosters fans, don't sulk in the corner. Your team's destined for glory, especially with Junemar Fajardo's beastly emergence and, of course, season MVP Arwind Santos.
With the Governor's Cup over, it's time to bid goodbye to the PBA—at least for the next few weeks. But before we do so, let's have a little recap of the just-concluded Finals series and of the conference with a bevy of Game 7 photos first, shall we?
