Talks about the bonfire happening this weekend have started circulating among Ateneans. The bonfire, as many of you know, is the Ateneo way of celebrating—and their win in the UAAP Season 72 Basketball tournament yesterday calls for a bigger celebration than most. It’s their first back-to-back championship in 21 years.

“We came out with more energy and we were more focused on what we want to do,” said Ateneo head coach Norman Black. Finals MVP Rabeh Al-Hussaini led the Blue Eagles to their 71-58 victory with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Jai Reyes, meanwhile, shot nine of his 16 points from the rainbow territory. Ryan Buenafe added another 10 and still another Blue Eagle, Nonoy Baclao contributed eight points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Celebrities from both universities studded the 19,000-strong crowd who gathered at the Araneta Coliseum yesterday. Check out our gallery for a few scenes during the third game of the Best-of-Three finals series.
