ufc fight night manila
Tomorrow evening, the Mall of Asia Arena will become a stage for top-tier mixed martial arts action as the Universal Fighting Championship or UFC makes its debut on the Philippines with the UFC Fight Night Manila. You know what that means: a heaping serving of (sanctioned) physicality, beautiful ring girls, and other sights that will have MMA enthusiasts drooling like wild dogs!

Stoked? You better be! But before you make it your Saturday gimik and troop to the venue, how about a little serving first of the things you must know about the epic fight fest?

Read on!

This is the first time the UFC is bringing the octagon here in the Philippines, marking a milestone in the history of local mixed martial arts. Plus, we all know that it's the home of the world's best MMA fighters so we're pretty sure we'll be getting much more than our money's worth when it comes to hard-hitting action.

HOW MANY MATCHES ARE THERE?

There will be a total of 12 matches which means you won't feel short-changed in terms of the amount of punches, kicks, elbows, and grappling you'll see. Click here for the full fight list.

WILL WE SEE PINOYS BATTLING IT OUT?

Of course! A total of four Pinoys headlined by Mark "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" Munoz will see action (the other three are Fil-am Philipe Nover, Mark Eddiva, and Roldan Sangcha-an). Munoz will be battling Luke "The Bigslow" Barnatt in a middleweight bout. If you're a Munoz fan, you better not miss it because this will be his final fight. Go out with a bang, bro!

AND THE MAIN EVENT?

As you saw in the poster, the main event features Frankie "The Answer" Edgar and fellow American Urijah "The California Kid" Faber in a five-round featherweight bout. Edgar is currently the UFC lightweight champion and No.1-ranked featherweight fighter with an octagon record of 17(wins)-4(losses)-1(draw). Faber's resume isn't too shabby either, recording 32 wins, seven losses, and no draws. Looks like an explosive matchup, no?

WHO ARE THE RING GIRLS WHO WILL SPICE UP THE ACTION?

Two names: Arianny Celeste and Red dela Cruz. For those who don't know the former, she's a Fil-am hottie who has won a record five Ring Girl of the Year awards. Meanwhile. FHM favorite Red dela Cruz became the grand winner of the Octagon Girl Search. The two should provide the needed eye-candy if ever you get tired of all the sweat, blood, and bulging biceps on the octagon.
