During the NBA’s 2014-2015 season, the Phoenix Suns lost a handful of games via buzzer-beating heartbreakers. Case in point: The Milwaukee Bucks' Khris Middleton’s rim-cleaning heave and Blake Griffin’s ridiculous (and miraculous) game-winning three. The Suns looked like they were cursed.
Today, the curse continued in their match against the Memphis Grizzlies. With the game tied at 93-93 with just 0.8 seconds left on the clock, Phoenix only needed one final stop in order to make sure that the game went to overtime.
The Grizzlies’ Jeff Green caught a perfect inbound lob pass from Courtney Lee and cold-bloodedly slammed home the game-winning basket at the buzzer, 95-93, in favor of the home team.
We have to give credit to Grizzlies’ Coach David Joerger for drawing up such an awesome play. Playing guard Mike Conley as a decoy definitely surprised the Suns’ defense, resulting in a clear take-off path for Green.
Ouch, Suns' fans. O-U-C-H-!
