Facebook is introducing a new feature that will give its users added protection from pesky stalkers who enjoy grabbing their profile pictures.

In a press release, Facebook stated that they are first rolling out the “profile picture guard” feature in India, where misuse of photos have become a widespread issue.

“Today, we are piloting new tools that give people in India more control over who can download and share their profile pictures. In addition, we’re exploring ways people can more easily add designs to profile pictures, which our research has shown helpful in deterring misuse,” the statement reads.

We’re still not sure though if and when Facebook will also introduce this feature to other countries, but things are looking well for this development. “Based on what we learn from our experience in India, we hope to expand to other countries soon,” the statement adds.

Upon activating it, users will notice that their profile picture now has a shield icon and a blue border.

The profile picture guard also has 3 key features:
-Others users can’t share, send or download your profile picture
-People other than your friends can’t tag anyone in your profile picture
-Prevents screenshots of your profile picture being taken on Android devices
