On December 14, the latest and greatest version of Apple's wonder handset, the iPhone 5, will finally and officially be available here in the Philippines. That's less than two weeks away!

The news came straight from Apple, so this one's as legit as they come. It's also expected. Remember, last year's iPhone 4S also landed on local store shelves during the Christmas month. As a refresher, the iPhone 5 was first unveiled in September although other countries such as the US and Canada got first servings. It boasts upgraded hardware, which includes a faster A6 chip, 1GB of RAM, and a 8-megapixel HD camera (1.2-megapixel secondary). It also packs 3G and 4G LTE and runs on Apple's latest mobile platform, iOS 6.

Aside from the Philippines, other countries like Malaysia and Indonesia will also get the handset on the 14th. We've already fondled one back in October and we can tell you it's one fine device (check out the gallery below for our hands-on) and we're glad our kababayans will get to experience it soon as well. Too bad official SRPs are still TBA. Hello, Smart, Globe?
