Christmas has come very early for iPhone fanatics.

Based on the info from VentureBeat's respected industry source Evan Blass, the iPhone 7 is going to be unleashed on the world this September 16.

Apple will reportedly officially unveil the device on September 6. On the 9th, the preorders will start, then, on 15th, the iOS 10 launches.

So, basically, the first three weeks of the month will be intensified techie foreplay in anticipation of the September 16 climax, when the iPhone 7 will actually be in stores.

As expected, there are already a lot of rumors about the iPhone 7. "If Apple follows its own trends, the iPhone 7 should come with an entirely new design. So far, rumors indicate that the next iPhone will be water-resistant, feature liquid metal, and eliminate antenna lines. There are also rumors that it could sport a smart connector, and do away with the headphone port. Now it seems the mute switch could also disappear, though that’s debatable," reports Malarie Gokey in Digital Trends.

Meanwhile, Roger Fingas of AppleInsider highlights a pair of allegedly "leaked" photos (of supposedly "questionable" origin, take note) that show an alleged mute button for the iPhone 7. The photos, Fingas pointed out, "possibly reinforce the claims that Apple will offer the device in Space Black, or at least a darker shade of Space Gray."
