In her privilege speech on Tuesday, De Lima first greeted Cayetano sarcastically for succeeding in derailing the Senate investigation on extrajudicial killings.
“Congratulations to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for his triumphant victory yesterday and for making me realize that a committee chairmanship is not the end of everything for me as a senator,” she said.
De Lima then went on to criticize Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre for leading the House of Representatives' hearing which she claimed only aims to take her down.
De Lima also extended her forgiveness to the witnesses which she believes were asked to implicate her in the illegal drug trade against their will.
“Alam ko na kayo ay napilitan at napuwersa lamang na idawit ako sa kung anumang anomalya sa Bilibid gamit ang panggigipit, blackmail at marahil pati torture,” she said.
“Ang hindi ko mapapatawad ang nasa likod nitong pag-iimbento ng mga ebidensya laban sa akin. May araw din po kayo.”
Prior to her speech, convicted robbery gang leader Herbert Colangco testified during the Lower House hearing that De Lima was pulling the strings in the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison.
Colangco said he used to hand over P3 million per month from drug profits to De Lima when she was still DOJ Secretary during the Aquino administration.
