Senator Leila de Lima has responded to the allegations of President Rodrigo Duterte who released a drug matrix supposedly linking de Lima to the illegal drug activities in the New Bilibid Prison.

During a press conference on Thursday, August 25, the senator maintained her innocence and shot back at the president, saying the drug matrix does not count as solid evidence against her.

“Even a 12-year-old can draw such a matrix. As I have often said, I will not dignify any further this so-called drug matrix which any ordinary lawyer knows too well properly belongs to the garbage can,” she said.

De Lima also ridiculed how Duterte’s drug matrix looked. “Ano'ng klaseng drug matrix ito? Can they not come up with something better, something more professional looking?”

“It’s scrap paper. It belongs to the garbage can, sa basura ko lang po ito puwedeng ilagay. Kayo na lang po ang humusga,” she added.

Aside from this, de Lima pleaded to the president to stop attacking her personally as they both have more important things to do.

Noong nakita ko na itong matrix natatawa na lang ako at naaawa na rin po ako sa pangulo. Kaya sana po maawa na rin sa akin ang pangulo na tigilan niya na po yan, this is already madness,” she stressed.

Duterte has been publicly shaming de Lima with his tirades against her that border on personal attacks and allegedly unsupported accusations.

De Lima for her part said this will be the last time she would address Duterte’s allegations since she did not want to dignify the personal attacks.
