“The most amazing woman in the world.”
That’s how Trent Reznor, who’ll be in Manila for his band, Nine Inch Nails’ Wave Goodbye tour on Wednesday, August 5, describes her fiancée, Mariqueen Maandig. While we wouldn’t normally be interested in rockstars’ private lives, Trent’s girl is particularly fascinating. Apart from forming vocal duties for an L.A.-based psychedelic rock band West Indian Girls, Mariqueen is—you read her last name right—of Filipino descent.
The two went public with their relationship earlier this year, during the Star Trek premiere in Los Angeles, California. And like Trent, the soon-to-be wife is described to be as individualistic and enigmatic a musician. Last 2 May 2009, It is in her band’s website that the couple informed the public of their engagement via Mariqueen’s band’s website
"In case [you] haven't heard the news, Mariqueen got engaged. Everyone in the West Indian Girl camp is super excited and happy for her. Q's an awesome person, friend and bandmate, and she couldn't be marrying a cooler guy. Talk about analog and digital love — their kids might all have Moogs for arms."
[EDIT: Posted in the West Indian Girls website yesterday August 2, is the "sad news" that Mariqueen has just quit the band]
The 23-year-old Queenie or Q, if you’re close enough, is also a part-time model. She is the daughter of Jun and Lucy Arrabaca Maandig of Cagayan de Oro City. How’s that for Pinoy pride!
We’ll be rocking out our congratulations on Wednesday at the Araneta coliseum. See you there!
