A South Korean national, who has an outstanding arrest warrant from his home country, was found dead at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday.

The body of the victim was found inside the NAIA's exclusion room and was identified as An Sang Kwan, GMA News reported.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) spokesperson Cherie Mercado said the victim arrived at 3:30 a.m. on the same day and was barred from entering the country for being in the immigration blacklist.

His body was then found lifeless inside the restroom of the holding area around 7:30 p.m.

Initial reports said the victim used the strap of his shoulder bag to strangle himself.

Meanwhile, Immigration spokesperson Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang told InterAksyon that the victim was scheduled to be deported back to South Korea early Friday.

She added that the victim was convicted for fraud and was sentenced to three years in prison back in 2012 for his involvement in a pyramid scam.

The South Korean Embassy has already been informed of the incident.
