Despite technically being the second most powerful official in the country, incoming Vice President Leni Robredo is still getting the cold shoulder treatment from President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

The latest instance that further alienated Robredo was after her camp found it difficulty to secure a schedule with Duterte who manages to meet up with other officials, the Inquirer reported.

“Nothing yet. We tried to get an appointment, but we have not found a date in his schedule. We are not yet losing hope,” she said.

Still, the 52-year-old widow of former interior secretary Jesse Robredo said she wasn’t taking it personally against the incoming president.

“I understand him. He has many things on his plate, like last month, he was busy forming his Cabinet... We have told the people around him that any time there’s a chance, I am just waiting,” she said.

The rift between the two was made apparent after Duterte stated that he was not too eager on giving Robredo a Cabinet position despite saying otherwise previously.

Things further went sour between the two camps after the presumptive leader met with defeated vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos, Jr. to discuss possible Cabinet options for Leni’s rival.

This was followed by the Duterte camp announcing that it will be holding a separate inauguration, which excluded her, due to the limited slots for guests at the Malacañang.

Both officials are scheduled to hold simple inauguration ceremonies on June 30 when they will also assume their respective offices as president and vice president.
