A massive pearl—possibly the largest in the world—has recently been donated by a fisherman to the local government of Puerto Princesa in Palawan.

Weighing in at 34 kilograms, the giant pearl was opened to the public this week in hopes of attracting more local tourists to the province, ABS-CBN News reported.

An article from the Daily Mail estimated its value at $100 million.

This is a considerable leap compared to the known largest pearl in the world, the $35-million Pearl of Allah, which weighs a mere 6.4 kilos and was also discovered off Palawan waters.

Puerto Princesa Tourism Officer Cynthia Amurao told GMA News that the previous owner, who declined to be identified, has had the humongous pearl for 10 years now.

Amurao said he kept it under his bed the whole time and treated it as a lucky charm.

The local government of Puerto Princesa has recently invited gemologists to appraise the value of the pearl, which is expected to break existing world records.
