A policewoman will be given recognition after she responded to a crime in Valenzuela City which led to the arrest of a notorious criminal there while she was off duty.
PO1 Mary Joyce Apada was commuting when she witnessed an ongoing crime in another jeep, GMA News reports.
According to Apada, she saw the male suspect identified as Ronnel Lim forcibly taking the mobile phone of a college student at gunpoint. This was when she decided to discreetly follow the suspect who casually rode a bus after the crime.
After making sure that she will recognize the suspect, Apada called for backup to track down the bus he rode.
Responding cops halted traffic and boarded the bus with Apada as she positively identified the suspect who was arrested afterwards.
At least four mobile phones were retrieved from him and his gun turned out to be a toy.
The suspect who has pending robbery, homicide and possession of illegal firearms cases is currently under police detention.
