And the new PBA season is on!
The country's premiere hoops league reopened its doors last Sunday, November 17! While we're psyched to see our basketball idols back in action, we're not gonna lie to you—we went to Season 39's opening ceremony at the Smart Araneta Coliseum because of the celebrity muses! And boy, did we make the right choice.
We already told you this last year, but we totally believe every PBA game should have an opening ceremony! Scroll down to find out who graced this year's hoops festivities!
The Ginebra Gin Kings is the most popular team in the PBA. Marian Rivera is the most popular actress in the country today. Look, we're just glad the Araneta didn't explode and all hell didn't break loose, because the pandemonium these two creates is unlike anything we've ever seen. "Second time ko na ito, pero mas ibang experience ito kesa sa una," Marian explains.
Young actress Lauren Young glimmered all night as she made an on-court appearance on behalf of Air 21 Express. "It was my first time and it was nice," says Lauren. "I was glad that I became a part of it and I'm so thankful that they invited me here. I just wish my team good luck." Wynne Arboleda and Ren-Ren Ritualo stood back like proud kuyas.
Kapuso star Isabel Oli claims she was a Purefoods and B-Meg fan for years, so she didn't hesitate when the now-San Mig Coffee Mixers asked her to fill in for Jessy Mendiola, who had to back out at the last minute due to prior commitments. "At first I was really nervous," Isabel admits. "It's not really my thing na maglalakad-lakad, but it was really fun." Perfect ang plan B!
Showbiz royalty Maxene Magalona felt super safe in the hands of Global Port Batang Pier players Jay Washington, Sol Mercado, and Erik Menk. A cute as a button celebrity muse and a roster with a brand new look? Nothing but good times ahead for these Batang Piers, don't you think?
