After having difficulties getting access to the exclusive villages in Makati City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) was finally able to stage their anti-drug drive there.

Members of the Makati City PNP were able to conduct Oplan Tokhang to over 600 homes in both Forbes Park and Magallanes Villages, GMA News reported.

But since there were no drug personalities reported in those areas, the PNP just did an information drive.

This included the homes of foreign envoys; even the Indian ambassador himself chatted with the cops conducting the drive to show his support.

The police force usually do the "knock and plead" method, wherein they go door-to-door in drug-affected communities and ask suspects to surrender to local government units.

P/S Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr. of the Southern Police District said the anti-drug drive would be useful as an overall crime deterrent.

"Para in case hindi lang sa illegal drugs kung di sa petty crimes or sa mga other crimes against property madali na yung coordination naming...yung bahay na pinupuntahan namin doesn't mean na nasa watch list siya," he said.

Apolinario also clarified there was no truth to rumors that cops were entering homes without warrants to inspect owners' belongings.

Earlier, the PNP admitted that they encountered difficulties in conducting Oplan Tokhang inside the Makati City villages due to the sensitive nature of doing an operation in the said areas occupied by some of the country's wealthiest families.
