The shake drill was scheduled at 4 p.m. sharp and reintroduced the duck, cover, and hold safety maneuver to the public. There were also simulations of emergency situations, complete with temporary power outages and stoppage of all traffic including trains and mass transport systems.
The shake drill will be held for four days from July 14 to 17 in an effort to introduce various scenarios that will prepare the public during the event of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hitting Metro Manila.
Aside from Metro Manila, the MMDA has urged neighboring areas including Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna to participate. MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim also has a message to the public prior to the drill.
