1)   ROMANCE

 

When: February 14, 2 p.m.
Where: Instituto Cervantes, T.M. Kalaw Street, Ermita

Vday 

Romance is a 2008 Brazilian film about love in and of theater. During a remake of the play Tristan and Isolde, actors Peter and Ana fall in love. While the characters live an idealized love, the interpreters are living a true story, which they try to spice up with the intensity of the fiction. By the way, it's a free screening!

2)   FRINGE MANILA

When: February 14 - March 1
Where: Different parts of Metro Manila

Joining a network of over 200 other independent Fringe festivals worldwide, Fringe Manila aims to showcase daring and diverse artistic practices in music, dance, theater, literature, and visual arts. The festival opened last Thursday, February 12, and will run for 18 days and nights until Sunday March 1.

3)   TIME STANDS STILL

When: February 13 - March 8
Where: WhiteSpace Manila

Directed by Rem Zamora, Time Stands Still is about a pair of journalists who return home after sustaining injuries in the Middle East and try to live an ordinary life together. It stars Ana Abad Santos and Noni Buencamino.

4)   DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN

The popular Broadway comedy, which stars Joel Trinidad, tackles the battle of the sexes and the many problems it presents. Why can't men stand shopping and why are women so good at it? Why do we still have books about how to have great sex? You're going to have to watch to find out.

5)   PASINAYA 2015

When: February 15, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Where: Cultural Center of the Philippines

CCP's Pasinaya Festival is the largest multi-arts festival in the country and features many shows of music, theater, dance, visual arts, film, and literature.

Over 3,000 artists from community-based and school-based artistic groups are expected to take part in the event. Aside from performances, workshops, film screenings, lecture-demonstrations, exhibits, and storytelling activities are also in store for attendants.

6)   MANILA, MY CITY AT WAR

When: February 14, 21, 28, starting at 2 p.m.
Where: Ayala Museum

Ayala

Manila, My City At War is Filipinas Heritage Library's 70th year tribute to the 1945 Battle of Manila. An exhibit and a number of mini-conferences about the losses brought about by the war, the military aspects of the month-long battle, the challenges of conserving war-damaged built heritage, and the survivors' attempt to revive the Filipino culture in the Japanese occupation, are scheduled to take place.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT: HENDERSON VS. THATCH

When: February 15

Former UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson makes the jump to the welterweight division to duke it out with Brandon Thatch, who has won his last 10 fights. Top featherweights Max Holloway and Cole Miller will join them in the co-main event. Best enjoyed at a sports bar near you.

8)   NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND 2015

From the 14th to the 16th, all eyes will be on the young hotshots, the freakiest athletes, the sharpest shooters, and the best players of the Association as they freely showcase their talents in NYC and Brooklyn. That’s a barrage of superlatives right there but it sounds just about right. Who needs love when you've got basketball, right?
