Heaven knows we're already light years away from our college years, but one thing we will never be able to shake off is the pleasure we get out of watching gorgeous cheerleaders battle it out in the annual UAAP Cheerdance Competition. We mean, did you hear about the folks who've been camping at the premises of the SM Mall of Asia Arena since Wednesday night just so they could score tickets for Saunday's event? Things have never been more intense than this!

To those who really, really want to hop in the UAAP Cheerdance bandwagon, maybe our little ogler's guide will be of help. Scroll down and see what these competing cheerleading squads are all about!

UE PEP SQUAD

Cheerdance Competition
Previous ranking: 6th
Coaches: Gibson Alegre, Carlo de Ocampo
Team captain: Rafaela Martin
University of the East’s routine last year had a plethora of mistakes, from UE courtside reporter Katz Salao erroneously screaming “University of the Philippines” to the over-glamorized blonde hairdos. “Last year kasi, nag-focus yung coach namin dun lang sa kaya namin,” Martin explains.Ngayon, yung akala naming hindi namin kaya, magagawa pala basta maturo ng maayos.” The squad refuses to hand out details about this year’s routine, but they did summarize it in one word: Hotness.

ATENEO BLUE BABBLE BATTALION

Cheerdance Competition
Previous ranking: 5th
Coaches: Marvin Wynant, Ryan Silva, Barbara Escueta
Team captain: Bea Crisologo
Many thought Ateneo de Manila University’s Voltes V-inspired routine last season would bring them glory, but the squad ended up having to contend with a fifth place finish. “We were hoping for a higher rank,” says team captain Bea Crisologo. “Our stunts were difficult and we showed what Ateneo could do. We have no regrets though, we know we worked hard.” This year, the Blue Babble Battalion plans to shed off all the glamour and simply show up as blue-blooded cheerleaders.
