Don't let a little rain ruin the yuletide season for you. Yes, the roads might be a bit more congested than usual, and the crowd thicker, but for good reason: there's a lot happening this weekend. Here's what you can check out:
From December 10 to 22, the SM Art Center in Megamall will host the recent works of Igan D' Bayan in a show titled "The Headf*cks." The show is organized by The Crucible Gallery, and as the title suggests, will be showcasing portraits of real life figures such as David Lynch and Rasputin, movie characters from popular horror movies, and re-imagined works such as Juan Luna's Spolarium--all of which will be given that distinct, off-kilter D' Bayan treatment. The SM Art Center is located on the mall's fourth floor, and you may call call Chari Elinzano or Inas Amoyo at 635-6061 for more information.
French artist Hervé Di Rosa, said to be one of the pioneers of street art will also be having an exhibit this weekend, happening on December 10, 7 p.m. at the DAGC Gallery, in Makati. You'll have more than a month to check out his brand of street art, as the exhibit runs until January 28. For more information, call Astrid Renoux, Cultural Attaché at 857-6935 or email email@example.com. DAGC Gallery is located at 2289 Pasong Tamo Extension, UPRC III Building, Makati City.
FHM photographer, Paul Mondok will also be mounting his first solo exhibit this December 10, at Republikha Art Gallery along E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. Titled "A Symptom of Nature," the exhibit is a glimpse into the mind of an artist who sees object and place and the interaction between them in ways most of us don't see. The exhibition will run until Saturday, 7 January 2012.
Start the weekend on a rocking note
It's going to be a loud, rainy Friday for some of us, as Australian metalcore band, Parkway Drive prepare to add to the chaos of Manila this December 9. If you want rocking beats, and powerful riffs, then head on over to this concert which will happen at the Amoranto Theater in Quezon City. The band will also have a meet and greet session with fans who will attend the show. Tickets are at P1,500 (pre-selling) and P1,800 (door price). For tickets, contact TicketWorld at 891-9999 and TicketNet at 911-5555.
Mike Posner Live in Manila
For those who want something a little more mainstream, you can check out Mike Posner live, as the American singer, songwriter, and producer performs in Manila this weekend at the Ayala Malls. This mini concert tour hopes to promote the artist's debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff, which includes the hits “Cooler than Me,” “Please Don’t Go,” and “Bow Chicka Wow Wow.” Catch him tonight at Glorietta in Makati, and tomorrow at the Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa.
