From gigs to quirky bands to beautiful non-Hollywood films to beer festivals, this weekend isn’t short on variety. Our tip as always: don’t stay home, and be seen where all the cool kids (and kids at heart) will be at. [firstpara] The Dunks Are Back: Pedicab
Awesome indie-electropop-disco-rockpunk-and-the-kitchen-sink outfit, Pedicab launches the deluxe edition of their album Shinji Ilabas Mo na ang Helicopter at SM Fairview on October 16, 5 PM. The deluxed edition features new remixes of their hit songs “Ang Pusa Mo,” “Simulan Mo Na,” and a new track, “Sandali.” So if you’re swinging by the mall in the afternoon on the way home from work, well you might as well catch these guys. If not for their music, marvel at their cool, colorful sneakers, and their quirky, quirky stage moves.

Oktoberfest 2009
We hope you were able to read our Oktoberfest article, because Oktoberfest, in cooperation with the German Club of Manila, happens this weekend at the Mandarin Oriental in Makati. This isn’t your typical San Miguel-organized beer festival though, as this one seeks to recreate the true atmosphere of Oktoberfest. Happening on October 16 and 17, from 6 PM onwards, this boozing event takes place inside a huge “beer tent” just like the one in the original Oktoberfest, and will feature German folk music from the world-famous brass group, the Günther Friedmann Band. Aside from the free-flowing beer, the event will also be serving the most delicious Bavarian specialties, and will also be featuring beer contests, dancing, and lots and lots of toasting. The fun continues on October 18, but will be much more family-friendly with the event taking on a carnival-like atmosphere complete with balloon twisters, caricature artists, a puppet show, a magician, and a lot more.
