Five Finest 5-Rounders in MMA!
Hands up if you caught Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva's epic fistfight at UFC 147 last Sunday! The none-title bout scheduled for five rounds ended in a clinching unanimous decision victory for Franklin, but the equally-resilient Silva was probably only a round short of shifting the results in his favor. Their second close call fight in 3 years once again earned the honors for Fight of the Night.
"I'm in Brazil fighting Wanderlei Silva - it doesn't really get bigger than that," says Franklin after the fight. "It's an honor to come down here and he's such a respectable person. I was well-recieved from the beginning and I would come down here and fight again. It was a pleasure to be here."
Five round fights totally drain the tank out of any fighter, but sometimes it also paves the way for some of the most amazing, gut-wrenching, heart-warming bouts we'll ever see in the history of mixed martial arts. Franklin-Silva II is definitely on the list of the five finest five rounders in MMA; check out the rest below!

Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva, UFC 147
June 23, 2012; Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond, Brazil
Franklin took the fight on two-week’s notice after Wanderlei’s original opponent Vitor Belfort backed out due to injury. In a close call match reminiscent of their UFC 99 bout, Silva caught Franklin’s face on the 2nd round and aggressively pounded him on the ground, but Rich defended enough to survive the round and turn the tables in the next three rounds. Franklin would escape Brazil with a unanimous decision victory, 49-46, but claimed he had no recollection of the events that occurred after round two. You just survived Wandy, sir.
