Give him something useful and related to his passion like a UAAP basketball shirt or a photography book. Your gift can be a reminder of your thoughtfulness each time it is used.
RULE 7: BOSSES, IT’S GOOD TO GIVE GIFTS TO YOUR TEAM
Offering people a chance to indulge is already a true gift. Give those that work under, or for you, a chance to enjoy the things that they rarely or never imagined they would let themselves have.
A box of decadent chocolates or a package of gourmet goodies perhaps? Maybe an after-hours inuman or as simple as a new pen. Whether the amount of the gift be big or small, the recipient will feel your good will each time she tastes, opens or uses your present.
RULE 8: IT’S GREAT TO TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM!
Putting some effort in gifts for co-workers shows you’re a kind and thoughtful teamplayer that appreciates their friendship. By giving presents, the spirit of teamwork and a healthy work atmosphere is further promoted.
Find out what interests them. Get them something they can use for their desks, or something related to their hobbies. What’s important is they know you are willing to deepen your friendship or working relationship. If you’re giving only a select few, be sure to do it outside work hours or while there are not too many people around.
RULE 9: TREAT SMALL PEOPLE, BIG
The guards, janitors and messengers—those that bring your snail mail, bank statements, newspapers, bills and utilities—should always be remembered. Whether you see these people or not, they provide service to you all year round.
The amount of money you put in their envelopes depends on what is comfortable for your budget. It can also vary depending on how long they have been of service to you. The important thing to remember is to simply make them feel special.
RULE 10: IT’S OKAY TO BE ELABORATE
Make sure to give your Christmas presents on time; late presents reek of thoughtlessness. In the same token, the wrapping paper is all part of the moment. When it comes to perception, the extra effort in making your gift look as beautiful as the sentiment it stands for is essential.
If you feel elaborate wrapping and ribbons will only make for more trash this holidays, use old magazines as your wrapping paper. If you choose pages well (say, a page of Megan Fox), this will already add the personal touch necessary in this whole business of gift-giving.
