Last week, you learned the basics of BDSM from your November 2015 FHM Idol, Grey Gomez. Now that you’ve been introduced to the kinky practice, why not go, uhm, deeper? But before you try 'em intricate kinky tools and moves, let's start with one of the fundamental skills of BDSM: erotic rope bondage.

Erotic rope bondage is immensely popular among BDSM practitioners, especially in Japan. We bet you've seen a couple of sensual rope bondage scenes during your (many) late-night "research" sessions on the Net.

But if you insist that you haven't, then watch The Weeknd's "Earned It" music video. Near the end of the MTV, you can see Fifty Shades Of Grey star Dakota Johnson all naked and tied up while hanging from the ceiling.

Did that get you excited? Now, learn the ropes of this type of bondage with a little visual help from our own Ms. Grey!

HOW SUBMISSIVE IS SHE?

When we started looking into the whole culture of BDSM, we were fascinated with how technical it all can be. And for the dominant sides (or doms) the most important thing to consider is the level of submission of your partner.

Does she say outright that she wants to be your servant in the bedroom: trusting you completely, awaiting your instructions, and thrilled to give you pleasure? If she has then you can probably introduce her to rope bondage, and show her how dominant you can be.

Or maybe, like you, she’s just turned on by the kinky play, and acts according to the physical sensations she experiences. Either she needs some persuading, or she’s totally game. Have fun finding out.

BOTH KNOWING WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO

Before the two of you dive in and let your hyperactive sex drives take control, confirm that you’re on the same page. There’s such a thing as "Risk-Aware Consensual Kink" (RACK) in the world of BDSM. It's an important philosophy in the BDSM community, especially once you start exploring props like cuffs or ropes (with which you could get hurt using).

In simple terms, you and your submissive must both be fully aware of the risks your sexual activities entail, and you both still choose (and find pleasure in) the practice.

THE KINDS OF ROPE BONDAGE

Ropes are generally used as a type of restraint in BDSM. You can tie your partner up to tease her, discipline her, or please her more during sex. However, ropes can also be used as a decorative accessory for foreplay or sex. You can make intricate patterns with thin ropes to highlight the lust-worthy curves of a woman and accentuate the impact of even the slightest exposure of skin.

There’s even a more advanced type of Japanese erotic rope bondage called "Kinbaku." It’s a combination of using ropes as restraints and visual stimulation, and it’s truly an art form you need TONS of practice for (Google it, and thank us later).

SAFETY, ALWAYS

No matter what the purpose of the ropes will be, exercise all necessary precautions. Learn the right way to tie knots, check blood circulation, and make sure that your partner can breathe properly throughout your "play." And, like we said before, have a pair of safety shears at the ready.

THE POSITIONS

Now, we get to the really kinky part: the rope bondage positions you can try out!

Try spreading her arms and legs, and tie all of them to your bedposts. Doing this will give you a no-limit access to her body. Pin her arms to her sides with ropes wrapped all around her upper body, or use ropes like handcuffs, so she has her hands tied behind her back. Imagine how hot it’ll be to watch her hungrily go down on you while in this restrained position.
