Back in the ‘90s to early 2000s, Surf launched a series of commercials that focused on promoting their laundry detergent products as the best choice for families. Their catchy yet practical slogan: choosing Surf was the “Wais” decision.
These advertisements featured Lumen, a conservative Filipina portrayed by actress January Isaac. She then got married to Lando and the couple eventually had adorable twins. What made these commercials a big hit was not just the enthralling storyline, but the fact that it also evolved from simply doling out saving tips, to tackling real family issues, which were smartly packaged with Surf’s products.
After their introduction, Lumen’s twins shortly became the new highlight of the mini-series as they charmed their way into every household and labandera’s heart. Here’s some of the old clips from when they were just 5 years old.
Have you ever wondered where they are now? GMA’s weekly news magazine show, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho recently featured the twins and they’re definitely all grown up.
Charlotte Hermoso (Maria) is now taking up Mass Communications studies and aims to become a broadcast journalist. She shared the story of how they applied for the roles, which back then she had doubts of bagging. “Noong umpisa po, madami po talagang kambal, as in pila. Madami talaga. Parang hopeless na kami. Siyempre sa sobrang dami ng kambal, siyempre mas magaganda, mas mapuputi,” she recalled.
Meanwhile, Charice Hermoso (Ana) is currently enrolled in an HRM course and aspires to get back into showbiz as a model/actress.
We did some digging on the side and found some pretty photos of the Lumen’s twins. Check them out below.
