Aside from the intense competition that is the men's basketball tournament, another thing to watch for during a UAAP season (now on its 80th) are the people telling the stories behind each game: the amazing courtside reporters.

This year, fresh faces banner the correspondent lineup, one that could very well rival previous batches. How long will it take before we get used to seeing them man the sidelines?

More importantly, will anyone follow in the footsteps of Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann?

Tonie Marie Moreno

UST Growling Tigers, 20, AB Communication Arts

She told the Varsitarian, "Courtside reporting looks more at the heart of the team, and if I do well then it is already an accomplishment."

Jean Agatha Uvero
UP Fighting Maroons, 20, BA Journalism

Her motto in life: "Never give up and always think about the brighter things."

Trisha Nicole Sumagui
Adamson Soaring Falcons, 19, BS Psychology

In an interview with ABS-CBN Sports, she said, "I wanted to be a courtside reporter because every time I step into the arena, the excitement, the feeling that you get, grabe eh!"

Sydney Alison Crespo
FEU Tamaraws, 19, BA Communication

Courtside hero? Tina Marasigan. "Ever since I was in high school, I wanted to be like (her), who was our courtside reporter back then, nung nasa UST pa ako," she shared.

Martie Cinelle Bautista
Ateneo Blue Eagles, 20, AB Communication

Before her second application as correspondent was accepted, she was part of the ADMU women's football team back in UAAP Season 78.

Eileen Shi
De La Salle Green Archers, 22, AB Psychology and BS Advertising Management

She posted on Twitter: "In a different field (from cheerleading) but forever for the green and white. It truly is an honor to be representing the school I love the most. Animo!"

We almost forgot: Carlos Miguel Dypiangco and Jose Miguel Gomez will be reporting from the sidelines for the NU Bulldogs and the UE Red Warriors, respectively. Sorry, bros!

UAAP Season 80 gets underway on September 9 at the Mall of Asia Arena
