This morning, October 27, Nike unveiled the Manny Pacquiao Holiday 2010 collection with none other than Manny Pacquiao over phone patch.
"I'm very comfortable with these new shoes," Manny says in straigh English about his new ring boots, "It's lighter and it's smooth. I can move fast."
His ring boots, along with the rest of the items in the collection is a product of the18-months-and-coming relationship between Nike designers and the Pacman. Nike, after all has been working with the seven-time World Boxing Champion closely to create items that will allow his fans to get as close to Manny as possible.
The result is nothing less than expected. In this collection, Manny's meteor tattoo, which he got after destroying Cotto last year, is an oft-referenced image. "It's not only a stone but a stone on fire," Manny explains. "It's about punching power. How hard I hit." The meteor symbol appears on a shirt as well as on his ring boots and on the new Nike Trainer 1.2.
And then there's the movie-poster-looking shirt that Manny says is Bruce Lee inspired. We later found out that Manny is a huge fan of Martial Arts movies, hence a shirt that reeks of 70s martial arts nostalgia.
Check out the gallery below to see how you can wear your pride on your sleeves come fight night on November 13. They will be made available tomorrow, October 28, at select Nike outlets.
