As far as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is concerned, it's not yet officially summer season. But the average temperature has steadily been rising for the past few weeks.

So be ready for moments when you step out of the door completely fresh, and a minute later get wet right away.

As much as we love summer, the excessive humidity is the one aspect we could do without. So to help combat Mother Nature's hotness while still looking stylish, look no further than this ultimate guide to beating the heat.

1) Ditch body fit shirts

...because it will not allow air to flow over the skin and as a result, you'll sweat excessively. Looser fitting clothes are a great option to keep you cooler this summer according to stylist Bela Vitug. It doesn't mean that you have to wear two sizes bigger than your normal clothes, though.

"Just pick clothes that are not touching too much of your skin so it's much cooler," Bela advises.

2) Pick the right fabric

The material of your clothing makes a huge difference not just with the looks, but also with how it feels. So when selecting what you'll wear, always check the label to see what the garment is made from.

"Cool and lightweight fabrics such as seersucker, cotton, and linen are best options," says Bela. No leather, wool, or polyester fabrics.

3) Rock light colors

"Light colors keep you cooler by reflecting light," shares Bela .

This is probably not the first time you've heard about this, but it's worth noting. White, baby blue, cream, and yellow, will keep you feeling cooler than black, navy blue, and other dark colors.

4) Or opt for pastel colors

Stylist J-Em Sta. Ana recommends wearing pastel colors this hot season.

"Pastel colors aren't only cool on eyes. They are also capable of making you stand out from the rest of the crowd," she says.

It's easy to pair them as opposed to what you think.

"Just rock it with white chinos or khaki pants," she adds. "To complete the look, go with mandals or white sneakers."

5) Go sleeveless

Lately, sando has become a fashion trend among men. Here's JM: "White tank top is the best and safest color for guys. It's simple but it makes them look fresh and trendy for summer." For the essential rules of wearing a tank top, click here.

6) Forget about denim

If you don't want to sweat like hell down there, J-Em recommends wearing basic drawstring shorts made of cotton.

"Aside from the fabric, it's the perfect summer wear because it features a straight cut profile from waist to thighs. In short, it allows better air circulation and helps you prevent sweating," she explains.
