The 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend is just around the corner, fellas! To be exact, the hoops-tastic event is going to happen from February 13-15, giving members of the SMAV (Samahang Malamig Ang Valentine's) something to be happy about.
The venue of this year's edition of the annual basketball festival is New York City, which pretty much means that, for the nth time, most of us won't be able to witness it all in the flesh. Well, unless you're already in the States or you've got enough moolah to fly off and join the fun. In that case, you're one lucky sumbitch, bro. #Bitter
For the rest of us mere mortals, we'll have to make do with our TV or the Internet. The good news is adidas has come up with five new kick-tastic shoes that will make us feel a wee bit closer to all the action. Don the kicks below and you'll have All-Star swag!
adidas Crazy 8 Knicks and Nets (P5,995 each)
To commemorate the city where the All-Star weekend will take place, adidas has released two limited-edition Crazy 8 kicks that honor this year's host teams, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets.
Check out the Crazy 8 Knicks:
Featuring a black upper and synthetic leather, the Crazy 8 Knicks gives your foot that premium feel as well as optimum comfort. For added graphics, the shoe features the Knicks logo on the tongue as well as a blue splatter pattern on the midsole.
Now here's the Crazy 8 Nets:
adidas decided to go the less colorful route with the Crazy 8 Nets, which is mostly in black, white, and gray. This gives it that elegant yet serious look, like you're about to destroy your rivals on the court with finesse moves. The Nets logo is on the tongue while a fist icon can be found on the back which signifies the two team's inter-city rivalry.
Being members of adidas' popular Crazy 8 line, both shoes boast bold graphics, superior foot comfort, non-marking rubber, and lightweight cushioning.
adidas D Lillard 1 All-Star edition (P5,695)
For the second consecutive year, the Portland Trailblazers' Damian Lillard will be joining the All-Star weekend. As such, adidas decided to gift the elite guard with an All-Star edition of his D Lillard 1 signature shoe.
With a simple, no-nonsense facade dominated by the colors white, black, and gray, the D Lillard 1 All-Star edition goes for a cleaner look. It features a full-length adiprene+ midsole with black splatter print to add character to the whole package and provide smoother heel-to-toe transition (useful if you're one to make aggressive feet movements on the court).
adidas D Rose 5 Brenda (P7,995)
Not really a shoe made exclusively for the All-Star weekend, but it's for the Chicago Bulls' All-Star point guard, Derrick Rose, so we say it belongs in the list of "things-that-make-you-feel-like-an-all-star." Here's the D Rose 5 Brenda, one of the latest colorways in the family of Derrick Rose's signature kicks:
The D Rose 5 Brenda has adidas' full-length Boost cushioning for added energy return with every jump and stride. The new colorway pays tribute to the superstar point guard's mother, Brenda (red is her fave color), hence the name. As you can see, it also has embellished prints of the D Rose logo. A black and white speckled ankle support that reminds us of Oreo cookies give a nice contrast to the mix.
adidas D Rose 5 Boost Superstar (P8,495)
Aside from the D Rose 5 Brenda, adidas has also unveiled the "Superstar" edition of Derrick Rose's signature shoe.
The D Rose 5 Boost Superstar is highlighted by the iconic rubber shell-toe which was featured on the original Superstar shoe in 1969. It's more than just for show, though, as this feature also provides added durability. The shoe's upper comes with a snakeskin texture while adidas' full-length Boost cushioning gives you that energy return D Rose's signature shoes are known for.
The adidas Crazy 8 Knicks, Crazy 8 Nets, D Lillard 1 All-Star edition, and the D Rose 5 Brenda will be available this month locally via adidas outlets around the metro. The D Rose 5 Superstar edition will also be available this month locally via Titan outlets.
