Do you idolize your dad so much that you imitate everything about him—from the kind of women you fancy to the booze you drink? That's nice and all but it would be better if you won't copy his sense of style, too.

Pops probably isn't the best role model when it comes to fashion trends. However, due to the number of years you've been with him, copying him might come so natural that you're possibly not aware that you're already doing so.

How would you know if you are dressing like your good ol' man? Here are telltale signs:

1) You tuck in your shirt

...and don't give a damn even if your dad bod is already trying to burst out of your tee. Imagine putting a belt on a basketball, that's exactly how you look like. Your dad probably doesn't care as much about his fashion sense (especially since he already has your mom). But, if your tummy is getting asphyxiated, do yourself a favor and just untuck the damn thing.

2) Pleated pants are your only option during special occasions

Your grandpa rocked it when he was high school. Your dad wore it during his wedding. Please don't pass on the trend to your offspring. Pleated pants went out of style together with flip phones.

3) You wear black leather shoes with denim jeans

Denim jeans are casual wear and they deserve casual shoes. That means they go well with boat shoes, loafers, and espadrilles, but definitely not with the black leather pair you wore during your high school/college graduation.

4) You can't let go of your cargo shorts

Unless you engage in industries like carpentry, there is no reason for your shorts to have a load of large pockets. Many dads prefer them due to their ability to hold a number of tools, and that's fine. But if you're just going out for a casual gimik, it would be wise to wear another pair.

5) You still use a phone belt clip

It was in style over a decade ago, when mobile phones were bulky and heavy. So unless you still use, say, a Nokia 5110, it's probably a good idea to ditch it, too. On that note, get a slimmer handset!

6) Failed mix and match

Go black or go brown, but don't go both. If you are wearing a brown belt, make sure you are not wearing black pants and vice versa. Pops might look okay in it but it's definitely not for millennials.

7) You think popped/loose collars are still cool

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte looks badass with his loose collar but, sadly, you're not him. Keep it simple. Fix your collar and lay it out flat.

8) Bell-bottom jeans

The older generation had a pair that they bought with a lot of enthusiasm and wore with such gusto back in the '70s and '80s. Frankly, it could still work with the right pairing (read: with a semi body-fitting shirt in more than one color) and given the proper occasion, like a hippie-themed retro party.
