Siargao is known as one of the country's best—if not THE best—surfing destinations, but you need not know how to catch a wave to be able to enjoy your stay here. For one thing, you can always take surfing lessons there, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place to learn. And if you're not in the mood to catch some waves, the island has a ton of natural attractions for you to explore, from rock pools to waterfalls to mangrove lagoons. And like that's not enough reason to keep coming back to Siargao, the accommodation options here can be incredibly affordable. Here are nine places you can call home while you're busy falling in love with the island:
1) The Hangout
The Hangout is owned by Manila-born writer Camille Banzon, an avid surfer who decided to rent a plot of land in Siargao after falling in love with the island. They offer private rooms and tents, but you should absolutely try their mesh beds, which former guests rave about. The best part? Hangout gives five percent of each accommodation bill to Nature Kids of Siargao, a non-profit organization that helps the less fortunate families in the island.
The Hangout Siargao is located in Purok 5, General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao Del Norte. Rates start at P350 per night.
Kermit calls itself the top surf school in Siargao, so if you're there to catch some waves, this is the place to be. Both novice surfers and experts will love their affordable, cozy rooms, which come with free daily breakfast, WiFi, and drinking water. The resort is also well-loved for its amazing Italian food, as well as its in-house yoga classes, island hopping tours, and other fun activities.

Jing's Place is located at Purok 5, General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao Del Norte. Rates start at P300 per night.
Bamboo Garden is located in Pacifico, a bit up north from General Luna, the island's most famous surf location. But the waves here are still awesome (not to mention less crowded), and it's also close to a lot of the island's top attractions. Spend your stay on the island at one of their cozy beach cottages, all located just steps away from their white sand beach.
