Masturbating is completely normal and healthy. But too much of it can cause problems. The most common of which, according to sex coach Niko Santos, are testicular pain and a heightened difficulty to reach orgasm during sexual intercourse.

"This is because you overwork your testicle. Your body needs to replenish the fluids you've lost," Santos says.

Your penis also gets accustomed to the pressure of your hands so when it enters the vagina which is soft and subtle, you don't get satisfied since it isn't as forceful.

In extreme cases, over-masturbation may get in the way of your life the same way any other addiction (drugs or alcohol) would.

"Too much masturbation can cause too much attachment to the physical sensation it gives you which may result in addiction or the uncontrollable urge to do it anywhere," explains our sexpert. "It might also cause some men to treat their partners as sex objects which may cause relationship conflicts."

But wait, how much masturbation is too much? Two or three times a week is normal. But if you're pleasuring yourself more than once a day, every single day, it will affect you negatively in the long run.

"Remember: too much of anything is bad," reminds Santos. Listen to your body. Don't abuse it. If you think you are getting addicted to masturbation, give yourself a break."
