Love it or hate it, the smelly but heavenly tasting fruit known as durian is here to stay. And this time, it’s one step closer to becoming a chocolate treat we all love munching on whenever we’re on a break.
The idea of creating a durian-flavored Kit Kat was raised by Thailand’s tourism minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul directly to multinational giant Nestlé which produces the Kit Kat chocolate line.
According to HYPEBEAST, Wattanavrangkul suggested Durian as a possible flavor along with Thai fruit favorites like mangosteen and tamarind as part of efforts to boost tourism in their country.
Nestlé is currently considering the idea but is also carefully weighing other factors before deciding to give it a go.
If ever, this won’t be the first time Nestlé created weird flavors for their Kit Kat line. Japan for instance is popular for having the largest assortment of exotic Kit Kats like veggie, ginger ale and even sushi flavors.
