Last Monday, netizen Dave Villanueva, shared a public Facebook album—“Kung gusto mo ng pagbabago, umpisahan mo sa sarili mo” containing his metamorphosis from being a semi-pogi to a certified headturner.
That post has now trended all over social media, with over 56K likes, 23K shares, and 17K comments as of writing.
Dave was bullied when he was younger for not being handsome according to society’s standards. But instead of being sad, he took those jokes (and the heartbreaks) and used them as an inspiration and motivation to improve himself.
“Gusto kong pumuti, gusto kong kuminis, gusto ko crush din ako ng crush ko. Big deal to para sakin kasi lumaki akong laging binu-bully. Dumaan ako sa point of self-pity, I even asked myself what's wrong with me. Then I started to realize that I need to transform myself.”
How did he do it? “I took gluta, some collagen and started my diet. I enrolled myself in the gym, hindi ako huminto until I was able to reach my ideal weight. Binago ko rin ang lifestyle ko. I changed the way I dress myself at marami pang iba.”
“Ang saya saya ko kasi nakita ko may nagbago. May naiba. Some people might think na GGSS ako, and yes, I am. Kahit ano pang sabihin ng ibang tao, patuloy akong mag-iimprove para sa sarili ko,” he says.
A little stalking on Instagram lead us to finding out the lifestyle changes that he did in order to be where he is today. Here are three tips:
1) Be active
3) Eat healthy
But in the end, according to him, what matters is what’s inside of you. “The best project you can ever work on is YOU. Kung gusto mo ng pagbabago, umpisahan mo sa sarili mo.”
“Being trending is both an honor and a responsibility. Since I was bullied before, I will now use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes such as bullying and online bashing that is timely and relevant to my country which is the Philippines,” Dave ends.
