Sneakerheads and streetwear aficionados flocked to the World Trade Center in Pasay last October 18 where local shoe convention, Sole Slam Manila, took place.

Now on its fifth year, the annual sneaker extravaganza filled its venue with dozens of shoe resellers, streetwear clothing companies, shoe cleaning products, giant shoeboxes, and a huge Premiere condoms booth in the center. Music from local DJs blasted from the speakers all day long, capped off by the performance of American rapper Bun B. Sole Slam also gave out awards to those wearing the fanciest kicks that day.

Beyond the booming music and the blinding lights though, what got us trooping to the party was the chance to cop something sick from the exhibitors. Below were what we found!

(Also: The prices listed here are from the show, and are subject to change outside of it.)

1)
These Back To The Future boots!

Price: P9,000

Nike has their own version of these shoes worn by Marty McFly in Back To The Future 2. The one pictured here are the ones released by the movie’s producer, Universal Studios. This pair’s a size 9 and was being sold at the event by exhibitors “Shoestring.”

2)
A mean-looking all-black watch

Price: P24,055

You can wear this Nixon “51-30 Tide” with whatever outfit. Its waterproof up to 300 meters, and that face just looks wicked cool. Best of all, the watch was on sale by 50 percent, meaning it was being sold for just a little over P12,000 at the event. Who knows, maybe it’s still on sale at various Nixon stores.

3)   This giant shoebox

Price: The box that fits six pairs goes for P5,000; the one that fits 12 pairs goes for P7,500; and the largest, which can fit 16 pairs, goes for P9,500.

Here’s how it looks inside:

If you’re pretty serious about this sneaker-collecting thing, these big boxes from BoxOut PH can store them safely while also doubling as a piece of furniture that says, “Yup, I’m a sneakerhead.”

3)
This Chicago Bulls cap

Price: P1,950

Vendor Snap City had dozens of cool head gear on display but this one caught our eye. First of all, that Bulls logo is just classic. It doesn’t even matter if you’re a real Bulls fan or not. That angry, red bovine is enough to get everyone looking. The camo print also meshes surprisingly well with the print.

4)   Bargains!

There were some pretty expensive stuff at the event, with several shoes reaching dizzying prices. So we were glad to see these relatively low-priced items. We almost got to buy something!

5)   This Charlotte Hornets hat

Price: P1,650

Fine, fine. We just showed you a Bulls cap; but check out the stripes on this eye-catching Hornets hat from exhibitor Hat Society PH. That shade of blue will sure get your head noticed, too.

6)   Water-proofing for your shoes

Price: P675

Just spray it all over your kicks, and watch the liquid slide away harmlessly. Liquid isn’t exactly a shoe’s best friend. This repellent from local company, Clyde, is one way of protecting your sneakers.

7)
An all-black sneaker

Price: P7,995

The Nike Air Huarache (pronounced wha-ra-cheh), a running shoe that claimed to hug the foot, was first released in 1991. It’s been given new life as a retro re-release. We like this all-black number, just as we liked Nixon's all-black watch. Notice a trend?

8)   These Philippine-themed caps

Price: P1,595

These caps from popular hat maker New Era caught our attention with its nationalistic designs. We particularly liked that one on the right that says “Ang Mamatay Ng Dahil Sa ’Yo.”

9)   Cover girl shirts

Price: P550

We love Joyce Jimenez enough that we’d wear her on a shirt proudly. This is from the store Tio Bobby’s, who also has designs featuring Aubrey Miles and Giselle Toengi.

10)   Really cool pocket tees

Price: P400

Pocket tees are still a big thing in streetwear, and these funky ones from Good Guys Clothing Co. extend the trend. We like that one with Michael Jordan's last shot as a Bull, the one with the pin-up girls, and that one with the pink-and-blue lion logo for LeBron James.

11)    Over-the-top s
hoe customization!

Price: starts at P4,000

Local custom sneaker specialists KicksflippedCustoms made this cool oni-themed design. Prices will depend on the kind of customization you want.

12)    This shirt!

Price: P500

Feeling gangsta? No? This shirt from Street Couture might help. We aren’t “straight outta Compton” like Ice Cube is but hey, at least you’ve got a shirt that says you are!
