Bookworms, unite! Ready your wallets and your cameras—this year’s Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) is finally on!

Happening at the SMX Convention Center this September 13 to 17, MIBF is the most prestigious event for book lovers all over the country. If you want to do some book shopping, stock up your library, or see your favorite authors and artists in the flesh, then you shouldn't miss this 5-day event. Cosplay competitions, seminars, and other exciting activites are also scheduled to happen You can check out this link for the full schedule of proceedings.

To help you decide where to go and what to do, we listed some of the personalities you need to take some time out for at MIBF 2017.

1 See Kikomachine Komix’s Manix Abrera and Hunghang Flashbacks’ Drew Borja

 

Comic artists Manix Abrera and Drew Borja will be there on Sunday, September 17, to sign your copies of Kikomachine Komix and Summit Books' latest title, the Hunghang Flashbacks. Hunghang Flashbacks is a compilation of the viral comic strips that that have been taking ove your social media feeds. Now, you have a chance to meet these two and even have a chat with them!

2) Attend a storytelling session with beauty queens Miriam Quiambao and Precious Lara Quigaman

CBN Asia will have a storytelling session on September 14 and 15, 5PM to 5:30PM. Beauty queens Miriam Quiambao and Precious Lara Quigaman will be reading stories. Don’t forget to bring your little nephews and nieces with you!

3) Watch a live performance courtesy of the one and only Gloc-9

On Friday, 3 PM to 5 PM, Gloc-9 will have a very special performance and book signing event. This is your chance to have those CDs signed by the award-winning rapper himself!

4) Meet and greet singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan

Reese Lansangan will also be there on Saturday—along with co-author and Cosmopolitan Philippines’ EIC Marla Miniano—for the launch of their new book, The Maps That Contain Us. If you’re looking for a gift for your girlfriend, make Saturday your date day and be there around 3 PM!

5) Marvel over the awesomeness that is the Fandom Fest Cosplay Competition

MIBF will have 2 cosplay events: the Pinoy cosplay on Saturday (from 6:30PM to 8PM), and the western cosplay on Sunday (from 5:30PM to 8PM). See some of your favorite fandoms brought to life, courtesy of talented, local cosplayers.
