You're about to embark on a life-changing adventure, heading to the metro or overseas for work. The thing is, you're going alone, without your significant other, and that has been bugging you. Neither wants to give up the relationship so you've both sworn to always keep in touch.
But this is not like your all-day unlimited texting, make no mistake about it. Because it's distance-related, there are certain rules you need to follow:
1) Never fight over text
No matter how you avoid it, you and your partner will experience misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and conflict at some point. If she texts you painful words, be more patient understanding as you can. Don't respond with an angry SMS as this will only worsen the situation. Instead, wait for her to calm down before talking about the issue.
2) Don't guess
It's easy to misjudge the tone of the other person via text. Rather than make assumptions and send furious replies, it's better to call and clarify how she delivered her message. Long-distance calls may break your wallet, at least not your woman's heart.
3) Be more creative
Forget those generic messages such as "Kamusta na, babe?" or "I love you." She surely wants to read novel-long, sweet messages from her LD partner. Pay her a compliment, remind her of the things you miss about her, and brush on plans for your reunion.
4) Flirt with her
Create tension to spark attraction. One of the best ways to do this is over text is through a bit of playful teasing over text. Go ahead and forward flirty messages to her.
5) Take a break
As much as you want to always stay in touch, don't fault each other if you have to skip out every once in a while in favor of hangouts with friends or colleagues. Just make sure to inform her of the reason you won't be able to text that day.
