At some point in your relationship, you'll be asked about how many girls you've slept with. You'll be wracking your brain for answers—and a host of questions. "Will she judge me if it's too few or too many? What's too few or too many anyway?"
Fortunately, we now have a baseline figure thanks to a study done by a U.K. extramarital dating site called IllicitEncounters.com. They surveyed 1,000 men and women (ages were not disclosed) about how many lovers they would want a new partner to have had.
But before we reveal the magic number, how many do you think it is?
The most common answer in the survey was eight to 12, with 38 percent of women and 37 percent of men choosing that range. Both sexes also agreed that 10 is pretty much perfect.
The study, which was published in international news website The Independent, revealed that respondents felt that people who had more than the ideal number are "promiscuous" while those fewer than 10 are "inexperienced."
Christian Grant, IllicitEncounters.com spokesman, said: "The dating game is changing so quickly. I think we are all becoming a lot more tolerant and sexually adventurous. If we had conducted this poll 10 years ago, men would have expected a potential partner to have slept with far fewer people."
"But a gentlemen never asks a woman how many men she has slept with," he added.
One caveat: The survey was done in the U.K., whose standards might be a little more liberal than ours.
