Notice how people are starting to flock to the gym and make use of their forgotten memberships. Well, it's because summer is finally here.
The thing is, achieving that beach-ready bod in a short amount of time is humanly impossible. As Charles "Crunch" Vincent M. Aguila, PTRP, REB, Group Fitness Team Leader and Master Personal Trainer, Fitness First Philippines, Inc. explained in a previous article on post-holiday fitness goals: "Working out is not a miracle. Kapag nagsimula ka, don't expect na may resulta na kaagad. It really takes time—around three months—to lose weight or get strong."
At the very least, you can tone your physique and shed a few excess poundage so you're able to ditch that ugly shirt while under the sun. By following Aguila's last-minute training routines, your beach bod might not reach its peak, but at least you won't be a massive mound of flesh in your board shorts. And please, don't expect a miracle. Youa ctually need to wokr for washboard abs.
Body weight exercises (10-12 reps x 3 sets with rests in between)
Coach says: " Do workout combinations that involve muscle groups and don't require any equipment, which means these can be done almost anywhere, any time. Body weight exercises also lay the foundation for strength or resistance training in the gym."
HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training (20-second work, then 10-second rest)
Coach says: "Developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata, this system can help burn more fat over a short period of time, resulting in a leaner body. The standard number of rounds per workout is eight, but I highly recommend that first timers start with a few less."
