We’re only in the second week of the Rio Olympics, so we’re still on a sports-fueled high as you can see from this week’s serving of man knowledge. We’ve also got the scoop on a Game of Thrones concert, an Aldub teleserye, and Pia Wurtzbach’s tiis-ganda motto, so you better get reading!
Ed Townsend, the guy who composed and co-wrote the Marvin Gaye hit “Let’s Get It On,” has sued Ed Sheeran for allegedly copying elements of the song for “Thinking Out Loud.” “The melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions of ‘Thinking’ are substantially and/or strikingly similar to the drum composition of ‘Let’s,’” reads the lawsuit. Listen to both songs below and tell us what you think:
We usually leave makeup-related stuff to the lovely ladies of our sister websites like Cosmo, but this tutorial by Pia Wurtzbach is just too irresistible. For one thing, we can see her in all her bare-faced glory, and we gotta say, she looks equally gorgeous with or without all that stuff on her face. And her winning quotes! “Pain is temporary, trophies are forever.” Said like a true queen!
We love the PH, but sometimes we wish we lived in the USA just so we can experience all the cool stuff happening there. Case in point: The Game of Thrones Live Music Experience, a 28-city concert tour revolving around the music and visuals of Westeros and beyond. It’s helmed by GOT composer Ramin Djawadi, so you can expect that it’ll be one badass production number!
Kate Upton's been on the down low lately after her engagement to pro baseball pitcher Justin Verlander (which we’re still bitter about, honestly), but that didn't mean she stopped being hot. In fact, we’re digging her even more after seeing her strut her stuff in the gym. Gotta love a girl who can lift!
We’ve got a long list of artists we’d love to see in a music festival, but we never thought we’d want to see Kermit and Miss Piggy’s The Muppets kin play live onstage until we found out that Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem played for San Francisco’s Outside Lands. If you’ve got the time (23:32 minutes, to be exact), watch it: It’s the ultimate feel good act.
Newly minted Chicago Bulls member Dwyane Wade has snapped up a cozy 10,250-square foot mansion to cement his status as the Windy City’s newest star athlete. The eight-bedroom house, which was built in 1883, features a gigantic wine fridge that can hold 720 bottles, a basement with a 148-inch projection screen, a heated driveway, and a separate coach house. Must be fun being an NBA star!
If you’ve ever wondered about the amount of food needed to fuel an Olympic swimmer, here’s your answer: Ryan Lochte inhales enough food for an average family of four every day just to meet his 7,000-8,000 calorie-per-day required intake. “I was just constantly eating, and I was getting tired of eating. My jaw was getting sore,” he said in an interview with Bon Appétit. As for his meals, his breakfast typically consists of scrambled eggs—six of them—plus two pancakes, a cup of oatmeal, a cup of hash browns, and a hefty serving of fruits and veggies—and that’s on a regular day. We can’t imagine the amount of food he chugs down during competition days!
Tom Hiddleston has finally joined Instagram, and of course his Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr. can’t help but poke a little fun at Loki, enthusiastically welcoming “the biggest T. Stark fan of them all” to the app. Well played, RDJ!
Some guys have all the luck, and 62-year-old Indian Mohammad Basheer Abdul Khadar is certainly one of them. Khadar just won a $1 million lottery jackpot...a mere six days after surviving a plane crash in Dubai which ended in the aircraft being reduced to a ball of flames. Swerte!
If you’re just as excited for NBA 2K17 as we are, then you should see the new trailer for the game, which pits the USA Men’s National Team in the Rio Olympics against the 1992 Barcelona Games’ Dream Team. Looking good so far!
Even the world’s top athletes aren’t immune to Tinder: There’s been a record-breaking number of swipes in the Rio Olympic Village area already, and we’re just entering the Games’ second week. Athletes: They’re just like us!
Green Day just dropped a new single seemingly out of nowhere, and we’re absolutely excited to hear the rest of their album. Listen to “Bang Bang” here:
The Rio Olympics seem to be riddled with mishaps, but this one probably takes the cake: Belgian judoka and bronze medalist Dirk Van Tichelt was celebrating his win on Copacabana Beach when he was assaulted and robbed by a local thief, who luckily failed to whisk his medal away. Seriously though, how can something like this even happen to a top JUDO athlete?!?!
