The Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Toyota Fortuner have a new rival in town, and it's also Japanese. Nissan Philippines has just launched the Terra midsize SUV.

The Terra's body is modeled after the Patrol, and it shows. Up front, it has Nissan's signature V-Motion grille accompanied by boomerang headlamps. Muscular haunches run along the sides, while the rear also gets boomerang headlamps. Unlike the China-spec five-seater, our market's edition gets seven seats. And like all new Nissans, it comes with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of safety features like lane departure warning, blind spot warning, intelligent around-view monitor, moving object detection, smart rear-view mirror, hill descent control, and hill start assist.

Pre-orders for the Terra can be placed at Nissan dealerships starting today. Prices start at P1,499,000. Deliveries will start in August of this year. For the prices of the other variants, check out the list:

Terra 2.5L Mid 4x2 6-speed MT: P1,499,000

Terra 2.5L Mid 4x2 7-speed AT: P1,615,000

Terra 2.5L High 4x2 7-speed AT: P1,697,000

Terra 2.5L Premium 4x2 7-speed AT: P1,899,000

Terra 2.5L Premium 4x4 7-speed AT: P2,096,000

The midsize SUV segment is a hotly contested one. The Terra's not only going to compete against the Montero Sport and the Fortuner, but also other contenders like the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Isuzu MU-X, and Ford Everest. Do you think it'll usurp the others?
