Speed devils gather ‘round. Tesla now boasts a race car that can go from 0-62 mph in just 2.1 seconds.
According to Auto Guide, Tesla’s Model S P100D broke its record after its weight got reduced by 500 kg during the all-electric racing championship.
Naturally, reduced weight will allow any car to accelerate much faster, but the P100D’s new best shows that Tesla’s design creates great results for race-stripping.
Tesla also recently released Ludicrous Plus mode through a software update that boosted the P100D’s 0-60 mph speed, cutting it by 0.1 of a second to 2.4 seconds.

Now that’s something we definitely can’t do on EDSA especially during the rush hour traffic.
Needless to say, the P100D will definitely perform well against other race cars. Here’s one showing the electric car going head-to-head against a Lamborghini Huracan in a drag race battle.
