Toyota Launches New VIOS Variants

The Toyota Vios, now with more personality!

There are legitimate reasons why the Toyota VIOS doesn’t figure in a lot during those conversations when we talk about cars we’d dream of having. Lots of other cars are faster, more powerful, and more attention-grabbing than this humble hunk of metal.

And for those who think of cars as an extension of their manhood, well, the VIOS obviously wasn’t made with that purpose in mind. And even more so nowadays, we’ve learned to associate it with taxi cabs.

Those reasons however haven’t stopped the VIOS from becoming, as Toyota claims, the best-selling car in the country. We think we know why. It’s a car that is designed purely to be a car, that is, something that fulfills the very purpose of automobiles, which is to simply take us places.

It’s a subcompact that trumpets what it means to be a subcompact. Affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient, the VIOS is a daily driver that—if its ubiquity on the road is any indication—people have learned to trust. Most of all, it’s classy in the sense that it never pretends to be something it’s not, as its low-key aesthetics suggest.

But that doesn’t mean that the VIOS isn’t worthy of a little spruce-up, because Toyota has since introduced two new variants of their little car that could: the VIOS 1.5 SE (Sport Edition) Limited and the 1.3 G A/T.

Consider the former the fashionable little sibling who’s not shy to show a little flair. Gone is the traditional silver grille found on ordinary variants, now replaced with a more stylish black mesh grille. To match the new grille, the SE has also been fitted with 15” TRD Alloy Wheels, lending the car an even sportier feel.

The halogen lamps on the other variants have also been replaced with ultra-bright HID headlamps on this one, and just to make sure everyone knows you’re not driving just an ordinary VIOS, an “SE Limited” badge sits at the rear end. The SE comes in two new variant-exclusive colors, White Pearl and Cosmo Red, along with the more traditional black finish.

Spiffy, right? As for the new 1.3 G A/T variant, the changes are a little more minor. Its exterior has been upgraded to look more like the 1.5 variant.

The new variants were introduced at the Toyota Caravan event which runs until tomorrow, October 12 at 8th Avenue (Behind Lexus Manila Showroom) at Bonifacio Global City. You can still check out the event, where you can avail of huge discounts and great deals on these Toyota Cars. The VIOS G 1.5 SE Ltd A/T is priced at 845,000 pesos, while the 1.3 G A/T retails at 740,000 pesos.
