The appeal of the Ford Escape isn’t hard to understand at all. It’s not flashy, and it probably won’t turn heads like other trendy wheels. But that’s not to say that you won't be smitten with how the Escape looks. [firstpara] Since it was launched on local shores back in 2003, the Escape has always been some sort of a man’s man amongst SUVs: it ain't got no frills, no-nonsense appearance.

The 2010 version doesn’t deviate from that norm. It is tough and rugged but not uncouth. The car’s sleek horizontal three-slat chrome front grille and its enlarged lower grille complement each other very well, giving the impression that the Escape is all set to swallow the roads like a bigfoot truck.

The trapezoidal halogen lamps blend with the front grilles nicely, providing an aesthetic contrast to the car’s overall brawny profile. Its muscularly pronounced fender overhangs gives the Escape some added heft. Its 16-inch alloy wheels and 215/70 R16 tires meanwhile give the SUV extra swagger.

The car’s interior isn’t anything groundbreaking, but we totally appreciate its comprehensive line-up of comfort and safety-oriented equipment including dual SRS air bags, fog lamps, parking sensors, power adjusting side mirrors, and leather seats

Powering the 2010 Ford Escape is the trusty Duratec 4-cylinder in-lin 2.3L DOHC 16 Valve with VVT, capable of producing 157 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine isn’t just powerful, it has also been modified with the flex fuel capability, which allows it to use E20 fuel blends (80% gasoline and 20% ethanol).
