The sun was ablaze but that didn't prevent the teams from gutting it out and revving it up in the final leg of the Mitsubishi Mirage Metro Challenge held last Saturday, May 30, at Block 12 of the Mall of Asia.
The celebrity-led groups Mirage Team Ellen (Adarna), Mirage Team Gretchen (Ho), Mirage Team Markki (Stroem), Mirage Team Rico (Blanco), Mirage Team Saab (Magalona) and Mirage Team Ramon (Baustista) were all revved up for the culminating event, and luckily, FHM was present to witness the competitive fire (read: trash-talking) between the six teams. Not to mention, all the pretty faces that came with it!
Read on to see the highlights and know the winners!
The first challenge was sort of a pop quiz that required each team to complete the flags assigned to them, which came with a set of questions.
The second challenge tested the participants' driving mettle, with each team member having to complete a driving course under a certain amount of time, all while trying to spill the least amount of the liquid placed on the hood of their vehicle.
The event wasn't just about driving though, as some of the teams featured some college cuties:
Like Team Rico's Danielle Ruth Ting of DLSU,
Team Ramon's Maan Pintado from DLSU-CSB,
and Team Markki's Abby Gabriel from Assumption College.
It would be travesty not to include Ellen, who looks like a coed herself even with less makeup.
The highlight of the day was the final challenge, which had each of the teams washing a dirtied up Mitsubishi Strada. In other words, the lady participants got wet and, um, filthy!
Saab seems to be enjoying herself.
Gretchen: One of the few girls who can be all sweaty but still stay dreamy at the same time.
Not seen in the photo: Dozens of men watching and taking pictures of a dream come true.
Who did the "I'll-wipe-this-car-with-my-shirt" special carwash tactic better?
The men weren't to be left out:
Ramon took a break from his Internet stardom to channel his inner carwash boy.
A little cut didn't stop Rico from making a massive 4x4 spic-and-span.
With the sun setting, it was time to hear the results of all that hard work:
Third place: Mirage Team Ellen
This one was quite a pleasant surprise for Team Ellen (with Maria Sabrina Estavillo and Patrick Lozano), the bottom-dwellers in the standings at the end of the first two legs. Good job guys! Ellen's chosen charity, the Precious Pearl Children's Home, received P30,000.
Second place: Mirage Team Saab
His dad must be smiling up there as Saab, along with teammates Alex Samson and Charlemagne Barceta (both from UP Manila), not only placed second in the competition but also offered her winnings to his foundation, The Francis Magalona Foundation.
Champion — Mirage Team Ramon
Team Ramon, which also included Maan and Niko Francisco (UP Diliman), managed to carry over their success from the first two legs (finishing on top of the standings) by ultimately winning it all. Ramon, upon the suggestion of his "best friend Korics" (Rico), donated his P100,000 grand prize to rehabilitation efforts for Typhoon Yolanda survivors.
The members of Mirage Team Gretchen (Arsenio Padilla III and Mikaela Joy Ormita), Mirage Team Rico (Danielle and Mars Legaspi), and Mirage Team Markki (Abby and Aerwin John Frias) received P10,000 each as consolation. FHM received a lifetime supply of daydream-fuel of Ellen, Saab, and Gretchen washing cars.
The initial leg of the competition, which also showcased the ingenuity of the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4, happened last May 9 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, followed by the second one last May 16 at the Bonifacio Global City.
