After months of waiting, we finally get an official title for the upcoming Star Wars film featuring one of the franchise’s most iconic characters: Wookiee-loving smuggler Han Solo.

Director Ron Howard revealed this through a hilarious clip with the help of Han’s hairy co-pilot Chewbacca:

We’ve also got wind of news that the team has officially finished filming and is now in the post-production stage.

So far, here’s what we know about the upcoming movie:

Story

There’s not much information out yet and no trailers have been released but we do know that Solo is a standalone spin-off story detailing the adventures of the young smuggler and his trusty co-pilot Chewbacca before the events of the Star Wars trilogy.

Cast

The lucky dude who bagged the titular role is American actor Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!, Beautiful Creatures). He will be joined by the likes of Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Paul Bettany (Captain America: Civil War).

Directors

By now, we all know that the film is being helmed by Ron Howard. But just a few months ago, it was the directing duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) who were calling the shots until they mutually decided with Lucasfilm to part ways due to the clichéd “creative differences” excuse.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” Lord and Miller said.

Release date

Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently scheduled to hit theaters in May 25, 2018. To help you with the wait, here’s Harrison Ford, who played the original Han Solo, talking about what he thinks of the new film.
